Pirelli busy assessing 2012 tyres at Abu Dhabi test: This week's test at Yas Marina may have been designed to allow the teams to audition young drivers, but tyre supplier Pirelli will also use the three-day session in Abu Dhabi to trial a selection of prototype compounds that they hope to introduce in 2012.
The Italian manufacturer already supplied the teams with an experimental version of their soft compound to use during the practice sessions for last weekend's 2011 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. And several other new compounds will be made available at this week's young driver test.
